CAHS Director Larry Hammell, as well as CAHS Research Scientists Carol McClure and Jillian Westcott and graduate student Charles Caraguel were contributing authors with Phil Byrne from DFO on a working paper titled “Assessment and review of the potential transmission of pathogens and parasites between closed-containment systems and the external environment”. This was one of six component papers comprising a larger DFO document titled “Potential Technologies for Closed-Containment Saltwater Salmon Aquaculture" . Jillian travelled to Sydney, B.C in January 2008 to participate in the Canadian Science Advisory Secretariat (CSAS) peer-review process of this document and Don Rainnie, also a Research Scientist with the Centre, was invited to participate as a reviewer.
