A $1.1 million Atlantic Johne’s Disease Initiative (AJDI) has been well received by dairy producers in Atlantic Canada.
Maritime Quality Milk (MQM) at AVC and the four Atlantic Canadian dairy producer boards launched the three-year initiative in June of this year. Dr. Greg Keefe, Director of MQM, says that the goal of the program is to enrol 350 of the approximately 700 dairy herds in Atlantic Canada in the first year, and just two months after the launch, almost 30 per cent of those 350 herds have joined the program.
