AVC Graduate to Receive Distinguished Alumni Award

Congratulations to Dr Emery Leger, recipient of a 2008 UPEI Distinguished Alumni Award, presented at the awards luncheon on September 25th. Emery was in the AVC Class of 1994 and following several years in practice returned to UPEI to do an MSc in epidemiology under the supervision of Drs. Greg Keefe and Ian Dohoo. He completed his MSc in 2001. He is currently an Animal Health Program Specialist and Avian Influenza Coordinator for the Canadian Food Inspection Agency in New Brunswick, providing advice and training to operational staff on animal health issues in the province. In addition to serving as president of the New Brunswick Veterinary Medical Association, Emery remains an active member and is their representative on AVC’s Advisory Committee. He continues to support AVC by providing an Alumni lecture to incoming DVM students and assisting with the regulatory medicine rotations.
