The Canada Excellence Research Chair (CERC) Dr. Ian Gardner recently hosted the inaugural meeting of his Strategic Advisory Board (SAB) on May 31 and June 1 at the Rodd Crowbush Golf & Beach Resort in Morell, PE.
The SAB will provide essential guidance to the Aquatic Epidemiology research program at the University of Prince Edward Island, both in monitoring program goals and opportunities and in providing guidance and assistance to raise ongoing program and project funding.
The SAB is comprised of a network of partners consisting of leaders from commercial aquatic food animal industries and national and global institutions, including notable industry, policy, government leaders and non-governmental organizations (NGO’s). The purpose of the board is to provide advice and guidance on strategic direction for this research program, which includes addressing issues such as the impacts of emerging infectious diseases, food production challenges in aquatic environments, climate change and global food security and nutrition.
Working with the CERC Incumbent Dr. Ian Gardner, the CERC SAB will help to formulate and monitor the implementation of a strategic plan that will guide the program throughout and beyond the seven year CERC term.
