China Animal Health Officials complete training with CVER

Dr. Shen Chaojian and Dr. Liu Yutian from the China Animal Health and Epidemiology Center (CAHEC) in Qingdao have recently completed a two-month training program provided by the Centre for Veterinary Epidemiological Research (CVER).

Dr. Charles Carraguel from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Dr. Javier Sanchez from CVER lead the training activities regarding the analysis of surveillance data for Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE). The goal of the training was to provide basic concepts on risk based surveillance and on the use of existing BSE models that Drs. Chaojian and Yutian can apply in China upon their return to that country.  This course was part of a series of training activities lead by CVER and CAHEC developed under the China-Canada Livestock Health Extension Services Project managed by Agriteam Canada Consulting Ltd., based in Alberta, Canada.
