CVER PhD Student Awarded Governor General’s Medal at Convocation

Pictured above are Drs. Dorea and Sanchez. Ten years ago during his own convocation ceremonies, Dr. Sanchez was awarded with a similar medal...and now, ten years later, Nanda - his first PhD student - received the award as well! Congratulations, both!

The Governor General’s Medal (graduate) was awarded to doctor of philosophy degree recipient Fernanda Dórea of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil during the morning convocation ceremonies on Saturday by the Honourable H. Frank Lewis, Lieutenant-Governor of PEI.

Nanda completed her PhD under the supervision of Drs. Crawford Revie and Javier Sanchez.  Her project involved surveillance and emerging disease from laboratory submissions.

Before joining CVER, Nanda completed her DVM in Brazil and then moved to Georgia in the US where she obtained her Masters degree working on disease modeling of Avian Influenza.

Congratulations, Nanda!!!
