CVER's research programs have continued to grow and expand, and although it is impossible to capture them all, we have highlighted several new research activities spearheaded by CVER members.
- Dr. John Vanleeuwen, with collaborators from Dalhousie, Mt. Allison and Acadia Universities, along with the NS Department of Environment and Labour, Health Canada, and Equilibrium Environmental Inc, recently received over $300,000 from Health Canada to begin a project investigating arsenic exposure in two rural Nova Scotia communities.
- Crawford Revie, our new Canada Research Chair in Epi-informatics, and Larry Hammell, led the working group of the International Salmon Aquaculture Dialogue coordinated by the World Wildlife fund. Three years in the making, Larry presented the report, Salmon Disease: State of Knowledge, and Crawford presented a similar report, Sea Lice; State of Knowledge.
- AVC has signed a 10-year MOU with the province of NB relating to its use in support of the aquaculture industries.
