Sixteen veterinarians from China recently completed an intensive four-week training program in field epidemiology at the AVC’s Centre for Veterinary Epidemiological Research (CVER).
The veterinarians received instruction in a wide range of topics including disease outbreak investigation, surveillance, measures of disease frequency, population sampling strategies and correct interpretation of diagnostic test results. Dr. Sither Dorjee and Tim Burnley, PhD candidates at AVC, were the primary instructors, with assistance provided by Drs Annie Wagener and Maria Forzan. The program was funded by the World Bank and carried out in partnership with Agriteam Canada Inc. of Calgary.
