In Memory of Lucie Dutil

It is with great sadness that we bring news of the sudden passing of Dr. Lucie Dutil from a brain aneurism.

Many in CVER will have known Lucie and we send our sincere condolences to her husband Carl Uhland (who did an aquatics internship at AVC). I think the following words from colleagues in CAVEPM summarize our feelings about Lucie very well.

A heartfelt tribute to our beloved friend and special colleague as well as president elect of the Canadian Association of Veterinary Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine:

Dr. Lucie Dutil (1965-2011)

It is with great sadness to inform you that our dear friend and colleague, Dr. Lucie Dutil, passed away on August 15, 2011.

Lucie was simply “the best” in every way. She was a person of outstanding integrity and was passionate about life, her family, people, work, music, travel, epidemiology, a cold glass of milk and even playing the violin.

To many of us, she was our inspiration in both good and bad times. She was a brilliant epidemiologist and a leader in her own way; a humble and adoring lady!

We were all privileged to have her in our lives, both professionally and personally.

Although little comfort can be found by her family and those of us who were close with Lucie at a time like this, perhaps rejoicing in memories of her will provide some solace for those in need.

You were loved by all of us, Lucie!
