Professor George Gettinby (University of Strathclyde, UK) and Drs. Peter Heuch and Daniel Jimenez (National Veterinary Institute, Norway) visited with UPEI during August.

These researchers are working with Dr. Crawford Revie and others in the CVER group on a project (TopiLouse) to analyse more effective ways of administering topical treatments on salmon farms to control sea lice. This international project has direct relevance to the situation in eastern Canada where bath treatments have recently begun to be used again on salmon farms in NB and new questions have arisen with respect to appropriate sampling design and treatment efficacy estimation. The project will run until the end of 2012.
